From what I've seen in the artist list of careers in medicine, the one that seems most interesting to me is music therapy. I love music and I think if a legitimate career in using music to help people is out there, I would definitely want to try my hand at it. Not only playing music, but listening and helping them get over sickness or pain, whether emotional or physical.
I'm thinking that I would want to be a Prosthetics. It just seems like a cool protection designing and applying prosthetics. In my previous blog posts I leaned more towards psychiatry but thing is an interesting alternative path.
The career option that interested me the most in this personality type was the art therapist. I’ve always been a strong believer in how therapeutic art can be. It is such a great was to express emotions without having to verbally say anything, which is exactly what some people need. I have actually never considered any career in the “artists” category before right now. I think it would be interesting to do more research about this career.
One of the personality types that I found out that I am is an Artist, which doesn't surprise me that much seeing as how I've always been told that I'm a "right-brained person", meaning that I have a more artistic side to me than logic.
Of the possible careers for this personality type, I decided that I would most like to be an Athletic Trainer (also an option in my other personality type, Helper), a Dance Therapist, and a Dental Lab Technician. These three career choices are relatively close to my "real-life" career desires, a Physicians Assistant.
Anderw what are the benifits of being a music therapist? Since your drum major will you conduct for the kids?
I think a music therapist would be really interesting. Or any type of therapist actually, I can just relate most to music. My interpretation of artist is a little different though. I feel like it is more broad than the careers they're suggesting. A lot of careers I'm looking into from inventories that tell me I'm an artist are not any listed in this inventory, so I feel like I do, but I don't fit in completely with the artistic career choice. Where would languages or communication studies fit in? I guess I've been viewed as an artist, but These careers are not my cup of tea.
I really like the idea of being a medical illustrator. I love anatomy and physiology, but not so much the working-with-people aspect of medicine. This would be a wonderful combination of my love of creating, and the human body.
This personality type is my second highest in ranking. I am a creative person, especially when it comes to design and writing. Out of all of the medical careers listed, I would most enjoy becoming a plastic surgeon. I believe that this field of medicine does not have to be completely superficial. Rather, I would like to participate in reconstructive plastic surgery.I believe this field has a great potential for making changes in the lives of multiple individuals.
Raleigh: Please learn to spell "you're". Since music can induce all kinds of different moods in people, I think if a person is going through stress or anxiety, I could have them listen to calming music as they fall asleep, if they're having insomniac problems. If they're a musician, maybe playing the piano or guitar could help them relax or forget their pain if they're going through a rough surgery.
Although my answers identified me as an “Artist”, I’ve definitely never seen myself as one. I have no artistic talent so jobs in plastic surgery are not for me. The only ones on this list that I found appealing were prosthetists and orthodontists. Orthodontia is, and was, one of my top career choices- I’ve already talked to my own ortho about it!
Even though this was not my top section, I have found that I fit into both Doer and Artist. Athletic trainer was a category in both of the 2 sections and that is what I want to do. I haven't done too much research into athletic training, but I have been looking into Physical therapy which is in the same ball park as Athletic Training.
While this wasn’t my highest score, I probably consider myself an artist more than I do enterpriser. The art aspects of the career could possibly have background medical experience in order to design and create new medical technology. New technology could be considered an aspect of art and possibly re-transcends to entrepreneurial spirit that the sheet says I have the most of.
I am most interested in plastic surgery as a career because I think I would be good in expressing my honest opinion to people, and I want to help people have better self esteem and feel confident about the way they look. I don't think plastic surgery is as taboo as it used to be, and I think that everyone deserves a chance of change.
I want to be an orthodontist. I love teeth, and I want to be able to help people straighten their teeth and to fix their overbites/underbites. Teeth are cool!
This was my highest score (tied with investigator) but I am extremely more interested in this field than the other. Athletic Trainer was in this field which is the career I am most interested in. In addition to athletic trainer, I would consider art therapy or medical illustrator. These two careers are both ways to express creativity to the benefit of others.
Andrew, you make a good point, music does have soothing and healing attributes. YYOOUU""RREE a nice person and take care of others. You are can inspire the sick and downtrodden with your music, you can bring them out of the pits of despair and in to the ambient light of music. Andrew, you are a kind and gentle man and I wish you luck in you pursuit as a music therapist.
My second personality is an artist, and given the jobs listed, I would choose being the athletic trainer once again because it matched the previous personality type as a doer. Being an athletic trainer would enable me to get to work with numerous athletes and help them out. I would like to do this even though it does not match my previous blogs as I said I would like to become a radiologist as it fascinates me most.
I like teeth to they're good for eating things.
Similar to Conner, I tied between artist and doer. As for careers in art I am most interested in athletic training. This combines both art and doing because it is so hands on, on the spot and invovled.
My highest scores are artist and helper. It is interesting to see how predominant the artist side of me is. Since I am a visual spatial learner and I require visuals in order to understand a concept, thus; my right brain is also dominant. In order to teach myself concepts, I always draw diagrams to retain the knowledge I am learning. Thus, the most interesting jobs from the artistic career options were a medical illustrator or photographer. I also found the description of artist very telling “Artists are creative, imaginative and like to express themselves. They may work with words and pictures or music and dance,” and found myself agreeing to many of the statements made.
As to the helping side, I’m definitely a people person. I love working with groups and bouncing ideas off of each other in order to receive the ultimate goal of solving the problem or finishing the project. Another interesting item I found is that one of the careers is optometrist, which I am already considering as a possible career choice.
The career option that appealed to me most in the artist list was plastic surgeon. Though I would really only be interested in reconstructive surgery for people who have had accidents. I think that is an extremely important aspect of recovery that a lot of people don't think about. I also think it would be very rewarding to be an art or music therapist. It's fascinating how music can create pathways in the brain that can even help with brain impairments.
